$100 +hst per hour with a minimum of 2 hours

🐪 Camel Pose (Ustrasana) is a powerful backbend and heart opener, offering both physical and emotional benefits. In this pose, the bend originates from the mid and upper back—(not the lower back!)—helping to create a safe, strong backbend. By lengthening the hip flexors, engaging the glutes, and lifting the heart, you’ll find more stability and ease in the posture. This can be especially beneficial for those who spend long hours sitting or feeling hunched over, as it counteracts poor posture and helps open up the chest and front body. Beyond the physical, Camel Pose invites us to embrace vulnerability. The act of exposing the heart and reaching backward without seeing where you’re going can be challenging. From making poses more accessible to adding a challenge or finding ease, blocks are the ultimate prop! 🧘‍♀️ Here’s how they can help: 🌀 Bring the floor to you & make space: Use blocks to support your practice in low lunge, triangle, or when stepping through to the top of your mat. The goal is to feel the alignment and create space for yourself. 💪 Add a challenge: Fire up your muscles and add a strength element. Engage your hamstrings by placing a block between your bum and heel for leg lifts. 👐 Wrist Care for Your Practice 👐 Our wrists do a lot of work in yoga, especially in weight-bearing poses like planks and downward dogs. Give them some love with these simple tips! 🙌 Wrist Stretches Shift the weight over your wrists in all directions—forward, back, side to side, flip the fingers back, flip the palms over. This helps increase flexibility and release tension from your wrists. Spend a couple of breaths in each direction. Wrist Warm-Up Strengthen the forearms by extending the arms to shoulder height, face the palms forward so the fingers tips point up. Spread the fingers wide and begin to open and close the fingers moving quicker and quicker until you start to feel sensation in the forearms. Keep going for about 30 seconds. Release and gently massage the forearms. Grip the Mat! When in weight bearing poses like plank, side plank, wild thing, downward dog (and so many more!), spread your fingers wide and grip the mat. Imagine you are trying to make a fist through the floor, keep all the knuckle mounds (at the base of the fingers) on the floor and PRESS the floor away! This gripping action distributes weight through the entire hand. Remember to keep this mindful grip throughout your practice! One year ago today I took a wild leap and opened the doors of Ebb & Flo. I had secured the studio space 4 months prior and spent that time pouring all my energy into making this business real. I had no idea what I was doing (I still don’t! 🤣), but one thing I’ve always been sure of is how much I love the practice of yoga. I’ve known many different versions of myself and the one consistent thing that has carried me through the ebb & flow of life is my yoga practice. In celebration, here is a picture of me as a child and me twirling around the room on the day I got the keys to the studio. ✨ Teacher Feature! ✨ Patricia 💖 Patricia's journey to becoming a yoga teacher: After experiencing 3 car accidents in 4 years, a friend of hers offered her a 5-class pass at a yoga studio to assist in healing her injuries and uplifting her spirit. Little did Patricia know, this was the beginning of a lasting relationship with yoga & meditation that would change her lifestyle and her outlook on health and wellness for good! These experiences led her to obtain her Yoga and Yin certification at the renowned Yoga Sanctuary studio in Toronto. With an invested interest, after 3 years of a full time teaching schedule she traveled to Rishikesh, India to obtain a 300 hour YTT & gain the full Eastern experience. This experience deepened her personal quest and growing desire to help others find fluidity and balance in movement and mind. ✨ Teacher Feature! ✨ Have you met J.P. yet?! 'I discovered yoga in my early 20’s when my roommate brought home a Baron Baptiste audio classes. After years of working in theatre , I was looking for something other than dance class to keep me strong and flexible as a performer and dancer/choreographer. From yoga at home, I discovered the hot yoga and began a more diligent practice. I felt more grounded in my breath, more still in my consciousness and more mindful of how I moved my body in the ‘everyday’. After 7 years of being an avid Modo Yoga practitioner, I took my first teacher training with a month long intensive in Brazil. Since then, I’ve studied with Marla Ericksen, Rodney Yee, Colleen Saidman, Jason Crandell and Leslie Kaminoff and received further accreditations (Vinyasa Flow, Yin/Restorative). I got my first teaching job upon graduating my RYT 500 and to date I’ve taught in Peterborough, the Kawarthas, Las Vegas and Toronto. Yoga is so many things to different people. Some want something physical while others look for spirituality. Now in my mid 40’s, having taught for 13 years, I have learned to embrace all that comes with teaching and practicing as simply moments that pass through. In my classes I will guide your experience safely while you explore your practice and discover what you need.
